James J. Moynihan, Principal

Mr. Moynihan has been active in the EDI standards movement since 1989, the year work first began on X12 insurance standards. He was the Co-Chair of the ANSI X12 Insurance Subcommittee's Payments Work Group that developed the first EDI standard for health insurance. He also chaired the Medical Stop Loss Work Group, whose work was completed in 1996.

Together with Dr. Marcia L. McLure, Mr. Moynihan is the co-author of EDI: A Guide To Electronic Data Interchange and Electronic Commerce Applications in the Healthcare Industry, published by Irwin Professional Publishing, A McGraw-Hill Company, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Mr. Moynihan is also the author of The Implementation Manual for the Health Care Claim Payment/Advice (835) published by the Healthcare Financial Management Association and Irwin Publishing (McGraw-Hill). Mr. Moynihan's articles on healthcare and insurance EDI have appeared in Health Systems Review, California Hospitals, Healthcare Financial Management, Employee Benefits Journal, Healthcare Informatics, Journal of the AHIMA , Managed Care Quarterly , EDI World and EDI Forum. In addition to feature articles Mr. Moynihan writes the monthly EDI column for Healthcare Financial Management.
